Nothing Less than Critical

Our team aims at developing material on social issues that provide students with an extra content. Developing critical thinking demands an extra effort on the side of the teacher. We devote some of our time to sharing, reviewing, creating and analysing some teaching materials from on-going projects from secondary and EOI schools.

NAVÉS, T. works at the public school “Institut Josep Serrat i Bonastre”. She has worked at the UB for more than 20 years. She currently teaches CLIL in the MA Applied Linguistics Program and English Language Teaching Methodology at the UB. She is the Head of Foreign Language Department at Serrat i Bonastre where she co-ordinates CLIL projects which aim at promoting critical thinking and gender equality. She has taken part in numerous innovative CLIL projects funded by the Departament d’Ensenyament and has published extensively on CLIL.

 

PALLÀS, C. holds a degree in English and a Master's in Linguistics and SLA. She currently works at the public school “Ins Can Peixauet” as head of the English department and as member of the Comenius Project team. She is an instructor of Bilingual Programmes and develops educational materials for English learners. She has published CLIL materials in different professional journals and university publications and she is a published author of LGBT children's stories.She is also training teachers in the use of LGBT learning materials, giving talks and raising awareness on visibility and the importance of dealing with LGBT matters

 

PICÓ, E. holds a BA and an MA from the UB. He has worked in several secondary schools and at the EOI de Santa Coloma. He has been Education Advisor at the Embassy of Spain - Education Office in Washington DC. He has taught graduate and post-graduate courses at the UB and the UPC. His areas of interest include Second Language Acquisition, Testing and Evaluation, Technology, and Materials Development. He has given many lectures and presentations. He is retired.
